The world-famous musician and comedian’s iconic artworks have no less impact than one of his legendary comedy sketches, with his humour communicated through shapes and lines rather than words. Billy’s art is charmingly simplistic, his faceless figures possess an extraordinary self-awareness and humanity. In his unmistakeable monochrome style, Connolly has revisited his own original style with the return of black and white drawings. While there’s pathos and darkness, the humour and wit reflected in “One Armed Juggler” is a true contemplation of Connolly’s character. Featuring one of his figurines juggling circular shapes, tying this representation to “people battling against futile odds”, Billy told us “I wanted the people to come to the conclusion themselves what the drawing was”.
