Apollo And Artemis
Elegantly portrayed on glass, in this bold and luxurious original, Dan Lane revisits some of his beloved themes from his earlier work. In “Apollo And Artemis”, the artist fuses his classical baroque sculpture style and the drama they convey with his own style and its iconic elements. Whilst the leaf piece is bold and dramatic, the title evokes an element of humbleness and simplicity. Named after the divine archers from Greek mythology, Apollo and Artemis were twins and although similar in some ways, they were opposites of one another. Whilst Apollo symbolised the sun and day, Artemis represented the moon and the night. The divine twins were two sides of the same coin - different and inseparable.
The wall sculpture resembles the portraits of some of the most classical works from Baroque and Renaissance masters whilst featuring the artist most popular symbols - the flowers, the hummingbird and the gold elements.
