The artwork boldly features the letter LOVE with, true to Joly’s signature style, the characteristic figures scattered around the letters. Appearing as though they are constructing the word, the small figures symbolise the effort, care and patience required to build and sustain love. The hand-painted splashes of bright neon colour, give the work an electric energy, adding playfulness and capturing love’s unpredictability and boundless energy.
Nic’s meticulous attention to detail transforms the wall sculpture into a dynamic scene, where love is something to be build, shaped and nurtured, not just a word.
The title echoes the universal truth that love – familial, romantic or platonic, is the foundation of human fulfilment, beyond any material success.
This artwork is a collector’s edition. For this special collection, Joly has created two different editions for each title which not only vary in size, but have different edition sizes: the Collector's edition, a larger artwork with an edition number of 50 and featuring more of his iconic figurines, while the Conceptual edition is smaller in size and edition number of 190.
