Shampoo Simon

From the heart-warming to the hilarious, Stephen Roby uses his bright artistic style to interpret a range of scenes from his memory and imagination. This particular piece represents a time when he bumped into his bald friend at a supermarket who, when questioned as to why he had a number of shampoo bottles in his basket, replied "I still wash my head".

Etched in this memory and now on canvas, the British artist used bold lines and shapes to draw the viewers eye across the composition and blur the boundary between human and architectural form much like the first Cubism artists. Stephen also used cool range of blue shades which hints to his meticulous process whereby he mixes all of his colours (including black) from the three basic primary colours of red, yellow, and blue.
